In a classic "find typos by hitting submit," just realized the typo in Bonni's last name. (Fixed in the online edition but cannot do anything about the email copies). Apologies Bonni!
I've had several moments this past year where I've felt that nostalgic layering you talk about in the first part of the post. Have you seen the new season of "The Bear"? The last episode touches on a similar vibe.
Not yet! I've heard it is disappointing compared to the first two seasons (albeit with a quality bottle ep or two) and I haven't had the heart to go in yet. Will eventually get there though!
I've discovered there are two camps: those disappointed with what seems to be a lack of narrative arc, and those who like the collage-type approach driven by the emotions of the characters. I'm in the latter camp, so I really liked it, but I acknowledge that the story structure is very different.
oh, really glad to hear! I also find that expectations going into a work can make a big difference - everyone went in with such high expectations disappointment seemed inevitable, whereas I'll be going in with low. Glad to hear you liked it, because I do so love the characters and the 'verse.
